1.There are various reasons why people write poetry.一首詩 a poem
1)various:different,its root is vary.
2)poetry is a collective noun. used a an uncountable noun.
2.Some poems tell a story or describe something in a way that will give the reader a strong impression.
有些詩講述一個故事,或者描述某件事情,這樣給讀者留下強烈的印象。
[點撥]該句中的in a way意為“用一種方式”,由于way后接一個that引導的定語從句且在從句中作主語,故在此理解為“用一種能給讀者留下強烈的印象的方式”。
如:
We should help the poor student in a way that won't hurt his self-respect.
我們應該以一種不傷害到這個貧困生的自尊的方式來幫助他。

score 與數詞many,several 等連用時,不加"s",所修飾的名詞前常省去"of"
two score of people 中應加of,但three score and ten people中不加of.

[點撥]根據主、從句的謂語動詞的形式可以看出,這是一個與過去事實相反的if虛擬語氣。
2)run out of 是及物短語,后接賓語,表示“用完....”,而run out是不及物短語,表示“被用完”

汽油快用光了。
We are running out of our time.=Our time is running out.
史密斯還沒到達終點就精疲力竭了。
Smith ran himself out before he reached the goal.
The photographer needs to charge up the digital camera every day as the battery(C)quickly.
A shuts up B ends up C runs out D turns out
根據主句的句意“攝影師需要每天給數碼相機充電”,可知電池很快用完了,故選C。shut up關閉。關緊;end up結束;turn out關掉
