There is a mountain bike race in the neighborhood of Redrock Bay.Charlie invites Matt to enter.Matt is not sure at first.Then he decides to enter.He is very excited.When the day of the race comes,Matt and Charlie arrive early to check their bikes.
The race is about to start.The official is giving a warning.Matt and Charlie's friends are there to watch the race and cheer for them.Look!Charlie is riding well.He is going to win.But what is happening to Matt?

Matt:OK.Anything else?
Charlie:You have to wear a helmet,knee and elbow pads,and cycling shoes.Come on,Matt,you're a good rider.Let's enter together.
Matt:OK.I guess so.Let's fill out the entry forms.
Assistant 1:You're numbers 23 and 24.Now you must check your bikes.Always check the tires before you ride.Never ride with a flat tire.
Assistant 2:Don't forget!All competitors must read the sign,too.
Official:Be careful.Yesterday it rained so the track is slippery.Don't skid,and watch out for puddles.

副詞 adverbs
1,副詞，本單元共6個。
（1）規則的；（以-ly結尾）
quick——quickly；slow——slowly；bad——badly
快的、迅速的——迅速地、立即；
慢的、低速的——緩慢地、遲緩地；
壞的、劣質的——拙劣地、有害地
（2）以原型不變的副詞形式
hard——hard；fast——fast 硬的、堅固的——努力地、堅固地；快的、迅速的——迅速地、緊緊地
（3）特殊的形式
good——well 良好的、聰明的——好、滿意地

must 和 have to的區別。
（1）Must用于一般現在時和一般將來時，在其他形式中用“have to”來代替。
（2）在意思上；must；“必須”“應當”have to；“不得不”。
have to 有時帶有一些勉強和無奈，因為那不是自愿的。而在這個單元have to是指你有義務有責任做某件事情。表示勸告和建議（語氣沒有must強烈）。下面我將舉幾個例子來讓大家更好的理解。have to和must的區別。
I have to feed the fish every morning.
我每天在上不得不喂魚（你有義務有責任喂魚）。
I have to do the chores every day.
我每天不得不做家務（作為家庭成員你有責任有義務做家務）。
You have to wear a helmet.
你不得不帶上頭盔。（本單元的句子）作為參加山地車的比賽選手你有義務更有責任戴上頭盔來保護自己的安全！
must 的意思是“必須”（語氣比have to更強硬）就是說沒有任何可以商量的余地。你必須這樣做。尤其是在這個單元中的各種規則中我們可以多次見到！比如；
You must be more than 10 years old.
你必須在10歲以上（作為山地車參賽選手你的年齡必須在10歲以上）10歲以下絕對沒有參賽資格。這是必須的，沒有任何商量的余地！
You must have a good mountain bike.
你必須擁有一輛性能較好的山地車。
同學們請注意這是一場The mountain bike race 是山地車比賽，賽道肯定是只適合山地車的。而如果你拿輕便車甚至是折疊車去參加比賽，你肯定會被主辦方取消比賽資格。Because this is a rule 因為這就是規則！

marathon race 馬拉松比賽
馬拉松賽是一項長跑比賽項目，其距離為42.193公里。這個比賽的距離的確定要從公元前490年的一場戰役講起。戰役是波斯人和雅典人在離雅典不遠的馬拉松海邊發生的，史稱希波戰爭，雅典人最終獲得了勝利。為了讓故鄉人民盡快知道勝利的喜訊，統帥米勒狄派一個叫斐里庇得斯的士兵回去報信。斐里庇得斯是個有名的“飛毛腿”，為了讓故鄉人早知道好消息，他一個勁地快跑，當跑到雅典時，已喘不過氣來，只說了一句“我們勝利了！”就倒在地上死了。
為了紀念這一事件，在1896年舉行的現代第一屆奧林匹克運動會上，設立了馬拉松賽跑這個項目，把當年斐里庇得斯送信跑的里程——42.193公里作為賽跑的距離。
馬拉松原為希臘的一個地名。在雅典東北30公里。其名源出腓尼基語marathus，意即“多茴香的”，因古代此地生長眾多茴香樹而得名。體育運動中的馬拉松賽跑就得名于此。
