This passage tells the history of the A-mber Room in the order of time so that we can clearly know what happened to it.Besides the passage uses the Past Tense.(So we can draw up some timeline to understand the story well.)
Year    What happened to the Amber Room
1716    In 1716,Frederick William I gave the Amber Room to Peter the Great,as a gift of friendship from Prussian to the Russian people.
1770     In 1770,the Amber Room was completed the way Catherine II wanted it.
1941     In september,1941,the Nazi German and Russia were at war and the Amber Room was missing.
2003      In the spring of 2003,a new Amber Room was rebuilt at the Summer Palace,by studying old photos.
A brief summary of the text
The Amber Room was made of almost seven thousand tons of amber.It was built in Prussia.Then, the king,Frederick William I,sent it to Peter the Great as a gift of friends-ship(1716).And it soon became part of the winter palace.Later,Catherine II had her artists add more details to its design(1770).In september,1941 the Nazi German army secretly stole the Amber Room and then it disappeared mystically.In the spring of 2003,a new Amber Room was rebuilt at the Summer Palace,by studying old photos to celebrate the 300th birthday of the city St Petersburg.

句意:杰克的父親很多年前一定非常勇敢,因此杰克把他父親描述成一個(gè)意志堅(jiān)強(qiáng)的人。由句中many years ago得知是對(duì)過去的推測(cè),而B 項(xiàng)可能性很小,故被排除。

Warming!:belong is not used in the continuous tense or the passive voice

5.Later,Catherine II had the Amber Room moved to a palace outside St Petersburg where she spem her summer.

1.使某事被做

2.遭遇,經(jīng)歷(違背主語的意愿)

從那以后,琥珀宮的下落便成了一個(gè)謎。
remain (1) vi.留下,遺留,殘存
I went to the city,but my brother remained at home.
(2)link-verb.  后接n./adj./介詞短語/表位置的adv.

句意:該宮殿在上個(gè)世紀(jì)曾經(jīng)經(jīng)歷了三次大伙,現(xiàn)在原始的建筑所剩無幾。考查動(dòng)詞的時(shí)態(tài)語態(tài),remain是不及物動(dòng)詞,沒有被動(dòng)式或進(jìn)行時(shí)態(tài)。

7.【觀察】閱讀下列句子,觀察worth在句中的用法。
1.How much is the ring worth?
意思是“相當(dāng)于...的價(jià)值”
2.The winner will receive $10 worth of books.
3.Their help was of great worth.
作名詞,意思是“價(jià)值...的東西;作用,價(jià)值”
(1)be (well) worth sth./doing sth.(主動(dòng)表被動(dòng))
(很)值得(費(fèi)周折),(很)有價(jià)值
(2)be worth+錢數(shù)或相當(dāng)于數(shù)的名詞如price,much,well 來修飾而不用very或very much.
由一個(gè)句子作定語,修飾句中一個(gè)名詞或代詞,有時(shí)也可以修飾整個(gè)句子或句中的部分內(nèi)容。
先行詞(被定語從句修飾的詞)
